"When did you start tattooing, what was your background and what are some of your passions?"

I grew up in San Diego. I have enjoyed art for as long as I can remember. Originally I was highly influenced by Japanese art and culture. Through this I came across Japanese tattooing, and I was hooked. My interest in various styles developed further as I learned more about tattoo history and tradition. Tattooing has been around for longer than we know. Through time and across cultures, people have used tattooing in a variety of ways and for various reasons, and I am honored to be a part of it.

"is it important for you to paint?"

Drawing and painting are very important part of my life. I am both a digital and analog artist. Working digitally allows me to work efficiently, while working analog keeps me grounded.

I enjoy painting and can find myself easily lost in it.

"Who or what influences you?"

I find inspiration, and am influenced, by many different sources. I really like Japanese and Tibetan buddhist art, as well as Hindu paintings and sculpture. I like woodcuts and engravings from both eastern and western mythology and archeological art, exoteric and esoteric. Street art has always had an influence in my life. I love folk art, rough illustrations, wabisabi, Americana and psychedelic pop art.

Answer 4:

When I am not tattooing I enjoy spending time with my wife and our dogs. I also like bicycling and naps.
